Irish Blood, English Heart

Posted by qmonkey on July 31, 2007

I’m a proud Irishman, well, a proud Ulsterman, well, not that proud. A few years ago i moved to the South West of England for 9 month job - just for a change, and in true story telling fashion, here i am 4 years on with a house, a garden, a cat, a wife and 3 month old son!

Cards on table, i’m a Northern Irish unionist (with a very small ‘u’), so deep down i consider myself more British than Churchill! But, i’ll never be English. I like English people, probably more than any other national group, apart from N Irish (of course), my wife is ‘one of them’ which is great. BUT i’m not sure how i feel about my son being English.

I think it all comes to a head when i think of sport, obviously my son is going to end up being a world famous sports star - but would i be happy with him representing England at football or rugby. So i’ve made a decision.

If he’s a rugby player, then its gotta be Ireland, Ireland are a world class team and there’s a history of English born players like Easterby playing for them (i’ll not mention Shane Geraghty to him!). But if football is his game, much as i love N Ireland football team, i do tend to support England anyway - so i’ll let him off with that.

Or maybe, i get no say whatsoever anyway!

you aint irish friend if you call yourself more british than churchhill, how sad that you side with the invasion force that has destroyed ireland and turned your part of it into a constant war zone. if your so british leave ireland to the irish and live in england or iraq or maybe africa ?? oh yeah the brits didnt get what they want there so they left with all the riches ! believe me ireland was a great peaceful nation before the colonial cunts came and turned it into a civil mess, the faster the brits leave ireland and let the country become one again the better ! before britain, ireland had no religous troubles and people of diff faiths lived peacefully together. britain divided and conquered ! and now generations to come are still dealing with the protestant catholic bull shit that the brits started ! the brits now exactly how to stir things to there advantage and how to divide a country for rule….. look at iraq how they have sided with one religous power in the counrty and forsaken the other ! exactly the same thing !
iraq will be in turmoil and civil un-rest for eternity curtousey of your beloved britain and its master america !

p.s. i was born in england mate and lived here all my life to irish parents and trust me it aint as romantic as you brit wannabies think.

    eire forever !
